The Complete Guide to Card Payments, Banking & Fintech
EMV, ISO8583, SEPA, SWIFT, BNPL, PSD2, tokenization and more - taught by a practitioner with 12+ years in fintech
Lo que serás capaz de hacer
If you work in payments, banking, or fintech, or want to, this course gives you the foundation that most professionals spend years picking up on the job. When you tap your card at a terminal, only a fraction of a second passes before you hear the beep. In that time, the terminal reads the card, a payment message travels through a payment gateway or processor, reaches the acquirer, passes through the card network to the issuer, and a decision comes back through the payment system. Every participant has a different role. Every message has a format. Every authorization decision has a reason. This is payment processing , and this course explains how it actually works, from the first tap to clearing and final settlement. You will learn not only card payments, but the wider infrastructure behind modern payment systems: payment gateways and processors, Visa and Mastercard networks, EMV, ISO 8583, tokenization, digital wallets, SEPA, SWIFT, ISO 20022, open banking, BNPL, fraud, regulation, and more. By the end, you will be able to follow technical and product discussions about payments with confidence and understand what issuers, acquirers, processors, payment gateways, schemes, banks, and fintech companies are actually doing behind the scenes. Who built this course I am a Senior Product Manager and Solution Architect specializing in card issuing and payments, with 12+ years of hands-on delivery experience across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. I have built Card-as-a-Service platforms, launched eWallet and BNPL products, migrated millions of cards across national processors, and worked directly with Visa and Mastercard networks. This course brings that practical experience together in one structured program, designed so that a complete beginner can follow it and come out understanding payments the way professionals working inside the industry do. Course format 57 lessons across 10 sections, delivered as short, focused videos with visual diagrams, real-world examples, quizzes, and PDF summaries and glossaries. Every concept is explained before it is named, and every important term is defined when it first appears. What makes this course different Every lesson was written and recorded by a payments practitioner. There is no AI narration, no AI-generated slide deck, and no AI-written course script. The course focuses on how payment systems actually work in practice, including the infrastructure, message flows, security mechanisms, business models, and regulations behind them. At 9.5 hours across 57 lessons, the course goes far beyond a high-level introduction to fintech or digital payments. It connects the technical and business sides of the industry into one coherent picture. The technical content is kept aligned with current industry developments, including extended BIN lengths under ISO/IEC 7812, the SWIFT ISO 20022 migration, SEPA Instant requirements, PSD3 developments, and other changes affecting modern payments. The result is a single course that takes you from an EMV cryptogram generated inside a chip card to ISO 8583 authorization messages, network tokenization, payment gateways, clearing and settlement, SEPA Instant transfers, SWIFT messages, and modern fintech business models. What you will learn How card payment processing works from tap to settlement: authorization, clearing, settlement, ISO 8583 message structure, interchange, and the role of issuers, acquirers, processors, payment gateways, and card networks How payment systems connect merchants, gateways, processors, acquiring banks, Visa and Mastercard networks, and issuing banks What is inside an EMV chip: chip architecture, ARQC, cryptogram generation, and the transaction flow between card and terminal How PIN verification works: IBM 3624 natural PIN, Visa PVV, PIN blocks, HSM re-encryption, and offline enciphered PIN How CVV1, CVV2, and dCVV are generated, where each one is used, and why CVV2 must never be stored after authorization How tokenization works in Apple Pay and Google Pay: network tokens, Secure Element, Host Card Emulation, and why modern contactless payments are more secure than magnetic stripe The real difference between debit, credit, prepaid, and charge cards: funding mechanics, authorization logic, and issuer economics How SEPA, SWIFT, ACH, and ISO 20022 move money differently: message formats, clearing, settlement, and correspondent banking How 3DS and 3DS2 work: the ACS, MPI, frictionless and challenge flows, and what Strong Customer Authentication requires What PCI DSS, PSD2, PSD3, and GDPR mean in practice for people building and operating payment products How chargebacks work: the dispute cycle from cardholder claim through arbitration, and the business impact on merchants and issuers The business models behind BNPL, QR payments, digital wallets, open banking, and regional payment methods Where fintech is heading: neobanks, CBDCs, DeFi, embedded finance, and AI in financial services Who this course is for This course is particularly useful for: Product Managers working in payments, banking, or fintech Business Analysts who need to understand payment flows and terminology Software Engineers and Solution Architects working with payment systems or financial infrastructure Banking and fintech professionals moving into cards, payment processing, or digital payments Operations, fraud, risk, compliance, and implementation professionals who work with payment products Consultants and founders who need a practical understanding of how modern payments work Anyone preparing for a role or interview in payments or fintech No previous payments experience is required.
