Root Cause Analysis and the 8D Corrective Action Process
A Comprehensive Approach to Problem Solving: Analysis, Containment, and Permanent Corrective Action
Lo que serás capaz de hacer
Root Cause Analysis and the 8D Corrective Action Process When a problem keeps coming back, finding a plausible cause is not enough. You need to define the problem clearly, protect the customer, identify and verify the root cause, and confirm that your corrective action works. That is the purpose of the 8D process. Developed at Ford Motor Company, 8D provides a structured way for teams to solve problems and prevent them from recurring. In this course, you’ll learn how to apply that process using practical tools and examples from manufacturing and engineering. Nearly 25,000 students have taken this course since its release in January 2019, and it has received over 3,700 five-star reviews. What you’ll learn: You’ll work through the stages of an effective corrective action, including how to: Write a clear problem definition and assemble a cross-functional team. Develop interim containment actions to protect the customer while the investigation continues. Use traceability information to determine which products may be affected. Map a process using tools such as process flow diagrams and value stream maps. Investigate potential root causes using Pareto analysis, interviews, Ishikawa diagrams, concentration diagrams, and 5 Why analysis. Use analytical tools, including capability analysis, regression analysis, measurement systems analysis, and control charts, to clarify and test potential causes. Generate and prioritize corrective action ideas. Evaluate strategies such as andon, shifting the process mean, correlating process and product variables, standardized work instructions, poka-yoke, and automated inspection. Verify that corrective actions are effective and develop preventive actions that extend the benefits of the solution. Recognize the team’s contribution when the problem has been resolved. Throughout the course, you’ll see examples drawn from real manufacturing and engineering experience. You’ll also have downloadable templates and resources to help you apply what you learn. What have a few of the 25,000+ past student said about this course? " Very impressive course in terms of bringing knowledge but also in sharing it in a very practical way. " - Richard H. " Outstanding course and very applicable ." - Tyrone P. " It perfectly matched my needs. " - Libor H. " Excellent lecture for everyone. It is simple and user friendly. The concepts were explained in layman terms. " - Hazel B. " It was an amazing course with substantial amount of learning " - Ameetjyoti D. " I work in automotive and in the quality department for 20 years. I am new to the role of quality engineer and find the information and examples in this class are very beneficial in helping me succeed in my role. This course excites me! " - Angela V Plus over 3,700 5-star reviews!! Root Cause Analysis and the 8D Corrective Action Process not only relies on the "tried and true" methods developed by the quality gurus of old but also draws upon decades of real-life experience by providing dozens of actual examples from manufacturing and engineering.
